The BJP on Wednesday accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting the armed forces by alleging Prime Minister Narendra Modi "surrendered" during a military standoff with Pakistan, a claim BJP leaders say aligns more with Pakistan’s narrative than India’s. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi condemned Gandhi’s remarks as “sick and dangerous,” claiming they surpassed even the rhetoric of Pakistan’s military and political leadership.

Trivedi pointed to historical instances under Congress rule—like the partition, territorial losses to China and Pakistan, and past diplomatic decisions—as examples of what he called a “legacy of surrender” by the Nehru-Gandhi family. In contrast, he praised Modi as the “lion of Mother India.”

Gandhi had alleged in Bhopal that Modi surrendered after a phone call from then-U.S. President Trump during the 2019 India-Pakistan conflict. Trivedi rejected this, emphasizing repeated government denials of any third-party mediation and questioning whether Gandhi endorsed Trump’s controversial and conspiratorial public claims.

The BJP further criticized Gandhi and the opposition INDIA bloc for undermining Operation Sindoor’s success and playing into enemy hands. Referring to Gandhi as “Rahul Munir” and “Rahul Sharif,” Trivedi said his comments were being used by Pakistani media and questioned whether such remarks stemmed from personal conviction or misguided advisers.

Amit Malviya added that from Doklam to Pahalgam, Gandhi has consistently opposed national unity, choosing to amplify division rather than strength during critical moments, and accused him of standing against India’s political and economic rise.
