Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari showed exceptional leadership while commanding a border outpost just 150 meters from a Pakistani post along the International Border in the Akhnoor sector during Operation Sindoor. She led her troops to silence three hostile enemy posts through a strong and timely response to unprovoked firing. Alongside Neha, six women constables actively engaged in combat, firing at enemy positions with high spirit and determination.

Neha, a third-generation officer from Uttarakhand, expressed pride in serving the BSF and protecting the nation. Her grandfather served in the Army, and both her parents were in the Central Reserve Police Force, continuing a family legacy of service. She said commanding the post during the operation was an honor, emphasizing the dedication and courage of all her troops.

The women in her unit stood shoulder-to-shoulder with men, showing bravery and resilience during the three-day conflict. BSF Inspector General Shashank Anand praised the role of women soldiers, highlighting their decision to stay at forward posts and actively defend the country.

The BSF retaliated strongly in Operation Sindoor, targeting 76 Pakistani posts and destroying several terrorist launch pads. This was a response to heavy shelling and infiltration attempts by Pakistani forces. Neha and her team’s courageous actions played a vital part in protecting India’s borders and maintaining the nation’s sovereignty.
