Several parents of students from different Delhi Public School (DPS) branches protested outside the Directorate of Education (DoE) on Tuesday. They raised concerns about sudden fee hikes and the expulsion of students. Parents claimed that DPS Dwarka expelled 32 students earlier this month for not paying the increased fees.

Vivek Jain, a parent from DPS Rohini, urged the authorities to act quickly. We are ready to pay government-approved fees but not the extra charges the school imposed without explanation, he said. He also requested that the government share the draft of the proposed school fee regulation bill with parents, so they can see if it truly protects their rights.

Another parent, Aswani Makul, said they approached the High Court, but no action has come from the DoE. The school continues these unfair practices, and we need strong action from the authorities, he added.

On May 15, the DoE ordered DPS Dwarka to withdraw expulsion notices and readmit the expelled students. The department also instructed the school not to discriminate in fee matters and asked for a report within three days.

Parents like Sangeeta and Azad Singh expressed frustration over the lack of transparency and the mental stress on children. Singh said, Students face harassment and threats of expulsion, which harms their education and well-being. Authorities must intervene immediately. DPS Dwarka has not responded to the allegations.
