Govind Raghuvanshi, brother of accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, has come forward to support the family of Raja Raghuvanshi, her husband who was murdered during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. On Wednesday, Govind visited Raja’s home in Indore, where he hugged Raja’s grieving mother and broke down in tears. He assured the family that he would fight a legal battle to get justice for Raja.

Raja (29) and Sonam had married on May 11 and went missing on May 23. Raja’s body was found on June 2 in a deep gorge near Sohra (Cherrapunji). Sonam later surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while four others, including Raj Kushwaha—allegedly her lover—were arrested.

Govind said he briefly saw Sonam while she was in police custody and didn’t get a chance to speak properly. He denied knowing whether she confessed. He also stated that Raj was only their employee at the family’s lamination sheet business.
