Mayawati alleges Akhilesh Yadav exploiting Agra incident politically
Lucknow
BSP president Mayawati on Friday accused Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav of using the Agra incident for political gain. In a series of posts on X, she reminded Yadav of the 1995 Lucknow State Guest House attack, where SP workers allegedly attempted to harm her during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government. She urged the SP to stop exploiting the Agra incident and prevent further oppression of Dalits.
The controversy began after SP MP Ramjilal Suman referred to Rajput ruler Rana Sanga as a traitor in the Rajya Sabha, sparking outrage. In response, Karni Sena members vandalized Suman’s residence in Agra. Following the attack, Akhilesh Yadav condemned the violence and criticized the law-and-order situation under the Yogi Adityanath government. He also defended Suman, claiming the attack was due to his Dalit identity rather than his remarks on Rana Sanga, the Mewar ruler from 1508 to 1528.
