Manipur security forces seize 203 weapons haul

In a big success for security forces in Manipur, a huge stock of arms and ammunition, including 203 weapons, was recovered during joint operations to ensure peace and safety in the state. The operations took place from midnight on July 3 to the morning of July 4 in various hill districts.
Based on specific intelligence, joint teams of Manipur Police, Army, Assam Rifles, and Central Armed Police Forces carried out searches in Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Churachandpur districts. They found a large number of rifles, pistols, grenades, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Among the seized weapons were 21 INSAS rifles, 11 AK series rifles, 26 Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), two sniper rifles, three carbines, and one rifle with a scope. Other weapons included 17 Pt 303 rifles, three M79 grenade launchers, 18 single-shot breech-loaded guns, six pistols, and four muzzle-loaded rifles.
The recovered ammunition and explosives included 30 IEDs, 10 grenades, nine Pompi shells, and two Lathode grenades. The successful operation is seen as a major step toward bringing back normalcy and protecting people in Manipur.
The police have urged the public to support security forces and report any suspicious activities or illegal arms to the nearest police station or Central Control Room.
Senior police officials said they are closely working with all security agencies to continue such operations in a focused way to keep Manipur safe.
