Maharashtra reported 67 new COVID-19 cases and two related fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to the state health department. With these additions, the total number of COVID-positive cases recorded since January 1, 2025, has risen to 2,108, while the death toll has reached 31.

Health officials noted that 30 of the deceased had pre-existing comorbidities, and the latest two deaths were reported from Thane and Solapur districts. Mumbai recorded the highest number of new infections on Tuesday, with 17 fresh cases, pushing the city’s cumulative count for the year to 880, including 439 cases reported in June alone. Other regions with significant case numbers include the Solapur Municipal Corporation, which reported 16 cases, and the Pune civic area, which recorded 14 cases.

Since the beginning of the year, the state has tested 20,468 samples, of which 2,108 have tested positive. Health experts suggest that although infections continue to surface, most cases are mild in nature, and severe complications remain rare.

While officials remain vigilant, medical professionals have urged the public not to panic, noting that occasional surges are expected as the virus transitions to an endemic phase. They have advised continued adherence to basic hygiene, especially for the elderly and immunocompromised, but stated that the current situation does not warrant alarm. The state government has not announced any new restrictions but continues to monitor trends and encourages voluntary testing in symptomatic individuals.
