The Maharashtra government has announced a cashless treatment scheme for accident victims, offering up to Rs 1 lakh in empanelled and emergency hospitals. Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar chaired a review meeting and instructed officials to ensure timely treatment for victims under this scheme. He also emphasized that action would be taken against violators.

Abitkar revealed plans to increase the number of empanelled hospitals from 1,792 to 4,180, with transparency ensured through committees led by district collectors. A committee has been formed to explore expanding covered procedures, updating rates, and including expensive treatments like organ transplants.

Additionally, a mobile app will be launched to provide hospital information, bed availability, and allow complaints. Empanelled hospitals are required to conduct monthly health camps, treating at least five patients under the cashless scheme. Elected representatives will also participate in these events.

To speed up the distribution of Ayushman cards, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and others will be involved, with honorariums increased. The minister assured continued funding for the scheme.
