On the 27th night of Ramadan, the Ma'din Academy campus in Melmuri hosted a massive spiritual gathering, with around 300,000 believers joining in prayers and blessings. This solemn occasion also marked the launch of the Ma'din Academy’s Anti-Drug Campaign, a major initiative to combat rising drug abuse and raise awareness.
Sayyid Ibraheemul Khaleel Al-Bukhari, founder and chairman of Ma'din Academy, led the campaign, administering a pledge where thousands committed to fighting drug addiction. We cannot stay silent while addiction destroys lives and families. Our youth are at risk, and we must act now, Al-Bukhari urged. He also called for stricter drug control laws, stating that outdated policies fail to address the current crisis.
The campaign includes awareness programs for 100,000 students, distribution of drug prevention guidelines to a million families, a nationwide support network, a free helpline, and a 1,000-km awareness journey promoting prevention and recovery.
India’s Grand Mufti, Kanthapuram A.P. Abubaker Musliyar, inaugurated the conference, emphasizing that true faith deters violence and immoral behavior like drug abuse. The event highlighted the importance of strong support systems for those struggling with addiction.
Founded in 1997 with just 118 students, Ma'din Academy now educates over 33,000 students across 45 institutions. Its 29th Ramadan Prayer and Peace Conference continues to promote peace, unity, and social responsibility, drawing thousands in a shared mission.
