Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will organise a ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra’ on July 26, 2025, in Drass, Kargil, marking 26 years of India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War. The event will be led by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and attended by MoS Defence Sanjay Seth, alongside over 1,000 participants including youth volunteers, veterans, armed forces personnel, and martyrs' families.
The 1.5 km padyatra will begin at 7 am from Himabass Public High School and end at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbet. After the march, the Union Ministers and 100 youth volunteers will visit the Kargil War Memorial to pay tribute by laying wreaths in honour of the fallen soldiers.
As part of the event, 26 women bikers from Shakti Udgosh Foundation will also be felicitated for completing a tribute motorbike rally. A plantation drive will follow under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, blending patriotism with environmental responsibility and echoing the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Leading up to the event, MY Bharat has organised essay contests, painting, elocution competitions, and youth dialogues to involve local communities and inspire civic pride. This padyatra is part of the broader Viksit Bharat Padyatras initiative aimed at deepening national pride, encouraging youth participation, and promoting unity and service. It reflects Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Jan Bhagidari, where citizens, especially the youth, actively contribute to nation-building.
