On Monday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren transferred Rs 2,500 to the bank accounts of over 56 lakh women as part of the ‘Maiya Samman Yojana,’ marking the December installment. The transfer, totaling Rs 1,415.44 crore, was made through a remote button, benefitting 56,61,791 women across the state.

The event, held at Namkum Khojatoli Ground in Ranchi, was attended by around two lakh women from various districts. CM Soren highlighted that this initiative is a crucial step towards women’s financial independence, fulfilling election promises made by his government. Initially, the scheme provided Rs 1,000 per month, but this amount was increased to Rs 2,500 after a Cabinet decision ahead of the elections.

The CM stressed that gender equality is essential for overall development, stating that both men and women must progress together for the state's success. He also responded to opposition criticism, emphasizing that the government had proved their critics wrong by increasing the financial support.

Soren encouraged women to actively contribute to the state's development and focus on small savings for securing their children's future. He also urged them to use the funds to address malnutrition. The CM expressed his gratitude for the women’s support in the elections, reaffirming his commitment to their empowerment.
