J’khand Assembly will begin
Ranchi
The first session of Jharkhand's sixth Assembly will begin on December 9 and run until December 12. During the four-day session, several key developments will take place. Newly elected MLAs will take their oaths on the first two days, with Pro tem Speaker Stephen Marandi administering the ceremony. On December 10, a new Speaker will be elected. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will address the Assembly on December 11, followed by the presentation of the second supplementary budget for the current year by Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore. The final day, December 12, will feature a discussion on the Motion of Thanks for the Governor's speech and a debate on the supplementary budget. This session marks a few significant changes. The Assembly now has 81 members, down from 82, after the removal of the Anglo-Indian community's reserved seat. The ruling party holds two-thirds of the seats, and 20 MLAs are first-timers. Smaller parties like JD-U, LJP-R, and AJSU Party each have one MLA. The BJP and Congress have yet to elect their leaders, meaning the session may start without a Leader of the Opposition. Hemant Soren's alliance secured a strong victory in the recent elections, winning 56 out of 81 seats.
