Jaishankar thanks countries for condemning Pahalgam attack

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, during his opening remarks at the 4th India-Central Asia Dialogue, expressed gratitude to the Central Asian countries for condemning the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. He said, I appreciate your support in standing with India against this horrific attack.
Jaishankar highlighted the deep and ancient ties between India and Central Asia, which have grown stronger over thousands of years through trade, cultural exchanges, and shared values. He noted that modern diplomatic relations between India and these countries marked 30 years in 2022, with significant progress made through legal and institutional frameworks. The ties received a major boost when Prime Minister Modi visited all five Central Asian capitals in 2015.
He also spoke about the rise in trade, investment, and connectivity, with multiple direct flights linking the regions and growing two-way tourism. Many Indian students now choose Central Asia for higher education, strengthening people-to-people ties.
India remains a trusted development partner by providing training, scholarships, and community projects like equipping schools with computers and hospitals with medical equipment. Jaishankar mentioned the virtual leaders’ summit in 2022, which enhanced cooperation across sectors like trade, culture, security, and new technologies.
He welcomed recent talks on digital technology and fintech aimed at expanding economic ties. Jaishankar concluded by expressing confidence that these discussions would deepen cooperation in areas like defence, agro-processing, textiles, education, and technology, benefiting the people of all involved countries.
