YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of provoking violence during his recent visit to Podili, where he met distressed tobacco farmers. Reddy claimed that Naidu sent around 40 TDP supporters to disrupt the gathering and incite chaos by throwing stones. He said the move was a diversion from the real issue—farmers not getting fair prices. Despite the attack, Reddy noted that the 40,000-strong crowd remained calm and did not retaliate. He questioned who would have been held responsible if the crowd had reacted violently. Slamming Naidu for focusing on celebrations instead of addressing farmer suicides and distress, Reddy compared his approach to Nero fiddling while Rome burned. He strongly condemned the alleged provocation and urged the Chief Minister to stop political stunts and focus on helping the farmers. The ruling TDP has not yet responded to the allegations.
