J-K: Man dies from suspected food poisoning in Rajouri; family hospitalized

A man died and several family members were hospitalized in Badhal Gorla, Jammu and Kashmir, due to suspected food poisoning, police said on Sunday. Fazal Hussain, 40, was admitted to GMC Rajouri but passed away from suspected food poisoning. Five other family members are receiving treatment, with his 15-year-old daughter, Rabia Kousar, in serious condition. His wife, Shamim Akhter, and three other children—Ruksar Ahmed (12), Rafter Ahmed (4), and Farmana Kousar (10)—are also hospitalized, with Ruksar and Farmana in critical condition. Initially treated at GMC Rajouri, four family members were transferred to GMC Jammu for advanced care. Shamim Choudhary, Superintendent of GMC Rajouri, confirmed the incident and assured that all necessary treatment is being provided. The cause of the poisoning is under investigation. This tragic event has raised concerns about food safety, and local authorities have launched an inquiry as the community reels from the crisis.
