Over 80 German universities and research institutions are visiting India this month to enhance academic collaboration, as per a DAAD press release.

The delegation will take part in key events, including the inauguration of the German School of Technology at PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, the Indo-German Forum: Research, Innovation and Transfer, and the APAIE Conference 2025 in New Delhi.

The visit coincides with DAAD's 65th anniversary in India. German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann emphasized the strong Indo-German partnership in education and research, highlighting that nearly 50,000 Indian students study in Germany—the largest foreign student group. He also praised Indian scientists’ contributions to Germany’s research landscape.

The visit began with the Higher Education Policy Information program from 16 to 22 March, bringing 20 German university heads and academic representatives to Hyderabad and New Delhi. Discussions centered on strengthening institutional ties and fostering joint research initiatives.

A key milestone was the launch of the German School of Technology at PSG College, attended by representatives from German Universities of Applied Sciences. Supported by DAAD, this initiative aims to advance technological education and industry-driven research.

The Indo-German Forum: Research, Innovation and Transfer will further strengthen academic partnerships by bringing together 250 representatives from both countries. Organized by DWIH and DAAD, the forum aligns with DAAD’s centennial celebrations, reinforcing its commitment to global academic exchange.

Additionally, the delegation will attend APAIE 2025 in New Delhi from 25 to 27 March, where over 70 German universities will engage with Indian and international institutions, deepening higher education and research ties.
