The assistance includes medicines and vaccines aimed at helping patients with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease. The first batch of aid contains 17,030 vials of vaccines for Thalassemia patients.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the news on X, stating, Reaffirming India’s commitment to the Neighbourhood First Policy, India sends medicines and vaccines worth $2 million in response to Nepal’s request.

The Neighbourhood First Policy focuses on strengthening India’s relationships with neighboring countries, fostering stability, and promoting mutual prosperity. It emphasizes the importance of physical, digital, and people-to-people connectivity.

India's approach is based on principles such as respect, dialogue, peace, and prosperity, engaging with neighbors on a non-reciprocal and consultative basis. India has consistently extended developmental assistance, capacity-building initiatives, and infrastructure support to neighboring countries, helping with both large-scale projects and community development efforts.

This ongoing assistance is highly valued by India’s neighbors, ensuring its sustainability even as governments change. The government maintains vigilance over developments affecting national security, ensuring the necessary actions are taken to safeguard India’s interests.
