Heroin valued at Rs 1.4 crore seized in Guwahati; 3 arrested

In a major drug bust, Assam police seized heroin worth approximately Rs 1.4 crore and arrested three drug peddlers in Guwahati, officials reported on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) raided the Balughat area under Basistha police station on Saturday evening. During the raid, they apprehended one peddler and seized 27 vials containing 36.05 grams of heroin, a mobile phone, a scooter, and some cash. Following his arrest, the police traced the peddler to a rented house in Beltola Bazar, Dispur, where they detained two more suspects. From these individuals, police recovered 102 vials containing 138 grams of heroin, along with two mobile phones. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated to be around Rs 1.4 crore, according to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards. Authorities have initiated further investigations into the case.
