Gujarat student raped for 16 months after blackmail

A 20-year-old college student from Banaskantha, Gujarat, was allegedly raped multiple times over 16 months by seven individuals who blackmailed her with an obscene video, police said Wednesday.

According to the FIR, one of the accused, Vishal Chaudhary, befriended the student on Instagram after she joined a Palanpur college in 2023. In November 2023, he lured her to a hotel, where he filmed her in a compromising position without consent. He then used the footage to threaten and coerce her into repeated sexual abuse by him and his associates until February 2025.

After enduring prolonged abuse, the woman approached Palanpur taluka police, leading to an FIR against six identified and one unidentified accused. Charges include repeated rape, criminal intimidation, and violations under the IT Act. Police are actively investigating and attempting to apprehend the suspects.
