Govt ensuring fair compensation for media: Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the significance of the Storyboard18 - DNPA Conclave 2025, emphasizing its role in shaping policy directions and providing key recommendations to the government. Speaking at the event, he noted the media industry's ongoing transformation and the government's commitment to ensuring fair compensation for media houses.

Inaugurating the conclave in New Delhi on February 27, Vaishnaw acknowledged the shift from traditional to digital media, particularly with AI-driven changes. Themed Media Transformations in the AI Age, the conclave brought together policymakers, media leaders, and technology experts to discuss AI’s impact on journalism.

The Minister stressed the need for a balanced approach to media transition, ensuring that newspapers, television, and digital platforms coexist while addressing challenges like employment shifts, content ownership, and copyright issues. He assured that the government is prepared to support the industry in navigating this evolving landscape.

Vaishnaw also underscored the media’s role in society and expressed hope that valuable insights from the conclave would guide policy decisions.

The event featured prominent speakers, including European Parliament member Michael McNamara, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and MeitY Secretary S Krishnan, who shared regulatory perspectives on AI.
