FIR against five fake doctors in Ulhasnagar in months
Thane
The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) in Maharashtra's Thane district has taken action against fake doctors operating in the city, filing police complaints against five in the past two months, officials said on Wednesday.
The crackdown followed a tip-off from district authorities. UMC health officer Dr. Mohini Dharma stated that authorities had received a list of 26 suspicious doctors, prompting a verification drive. During the operation, officials examined their documents and medical certificates.
In 2024, eight fake doctors were identified in Ulhasnagar. Another five were caught between February and March 2025. Additionally, five more bogus doctors were found between 2017 and 2024.
Following the complaints, FIRs were registered, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter. Officials emphasized their commitment to ensuring only qualified professionals practice medicine in the city.
