EPFO raises auto-claim limit to ₹5 lakh
New Delhi
In a major relief for EPFO members, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has increased the auto-settlement limit for advance claims from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Tuesday. This means members can now withdraw up to ₹5 lakh without manual verification, and the claims will be settled within 72 hours.
The auto-settlement system was first introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to speed up financial support. The Central Board of Trustees had approved the enhanced limit in March, and it was officially implemented recently.
Minister Mandaviya called it a people-centric move under PM Modi’s leadership. In just over two months of the 2025–26 financial year, EPFO has auto-settled 76.52 lakh claims, covering 70% of all advance claims.
In April alone, 19.14 lakh new members joined EPFO, marking a 31% rise from March. Notably, 57.67% of new subscribers were in the 18–25 age group. Female enrolment also rose by over 17%.
