External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday warmly wished the people of Belgium on their National Day. In a message posted on X, he sent greetings to Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Maxime Prevot. Jaishankar expressed confidence that the strong relationship between India and Belgium will continue to grow in the coming years.

Earlier in June, Jaishankar visited Brussels for important talks with Prevot. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including efforts to fight terrorism. The EAM appreciated Belgium’s support in this area and highlighted the growing partnership between India and the European Union. Their discussions covered a wide range of topics such as trade, investment, technology, defense, security, clean energy, mobility, and pharmaceuticals.

Jaishankar’s visit followed a recent economic mission to India led by Princess Astrid of Belgium. During her visit, she met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jaishankar to discuss important areas like labor migration, pharmaceuticals, defense, diamonds, space exploration, and green energy.

The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that India and Belgium enjoy a warm and friendly relationship along with strong economic ties. Their collaboration now covers many sectors, including trade, investment, green energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, and diamonds, supported by deep people-to-people connections. Both countries look forward to further strengthening these ties in the years ahead.
