Don't harass people during voter roll revision: CM
Bolpur
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday instructed officials to ensure that no one is harassed during the revision of electoral rolls. At an administrative review meeting in Bolpur, Birbhum district, she accused the BJP of targeting not just minorities, but also the poor and OBCs.
Banerjee announced a new state scheme to support Bengali migrants returning from other states due to alleged harassment. The scheme will include help with safe return, ration and job cards, and temporary shelters for those in need.
Calling the alleged mistreatment of Bengali-speaking migrants in states like Gujarat, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra politically motivated, she said, We must stand by every affected person.
The Chief Minister also urged officials to actively implement the 'Amar Para, Amar Samadhan' scheme to resolve local civic and security issues. Her comments come amid growing concerns over the safety of migrant workers from Bengal in other states.
