Dhami advocates for double-engine govt in Delhi
New Delhi
Ahead of Delhi’s Assembly elections, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged voters to support a double-engine government for faster development, using Uttarakhand as an example. At a public rally in support of BJP candidate Neelam Pehelwan from Najafgarh, CM Dhami highlighted successful initiatives in Uttarakhand, such as the Jal Jeevan Mission and investments in infrastructure, health, education, and air connectivity. He emphasized that these developments were possible due to Uttarakhand's double-engine government and expressed confidence that Delhi could experience similar growth with the same approach.
Dhami also mentioned key government investments in Delhi, including Rs 3,600 crore for the Urban Extension project, Rs 7,500 crore for the Dwarka Expressway, Rs 920 crore for Pragati Maidan, and Rs 11,000 crore for the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Additionally, he criticized the AAP for corruption, citing the defection of Kailash Gahlot to the BJP.
Prime Minister Modi also took aim at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, criticizing his poisonous water remarks and accusing him of making baseless allegations out of fear of losing the elections. He condemned the insult to Haryana and stated that Delhi would respond to such claims.
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with results to be declared on February 8, featuring 699 candidates vying for 70 seats.
