On Akshaya Tritiya this year, around 21,000 weddings are expected in Delhi, generating a massive wedding-related business worth over Rs 1,000 crore in a single day. This auspicious occasion, celebrated on the third day of the Vaisakha month in the Hindu calendar, falls on Wednesday. The wedding industry in Delhi benefits from a wide range of services, including banquet halls, hotels, caterers, event managers, and decorators, all experiencing high demand.

According to the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), banquet and hotel prices have risen by 10-15% due to this surge in demand. The gold and silver trade alone is anticipated to generate about Rs 200 crore. However, rising gold prices—currently Rs 97,000 for 10 grams—have led buyers to opt for lighter jewelry. Traders are focusing on smaller gold and diamond pieces to meet this demand.

Wedding budgets in Delhi are typically allocated as follows: 10% for clothing, 15% for jewelry, 5% for electronics, sweets, and dry fruits, with another 4% for gifts. Wedding services such as banquet halls, management, decoration, catering, and photography make up the rest of the expenditure. Overall, this significant day is set to drive a substantial economic impact in the capital’s wedding industry, highlighting the importance of Akshaya Tritiya in the city’s commercial calendar.
