Delhi Police on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court seeking to overturn an order directing the supply of a list of documents to Bibhav Kumar, an aide of former CM Arvind Kejriwal, in the Swati Maliwal assault case.

Justice Vikas Mahajan asked the police counsel to submit a note on their arguments and scheduled the next hearing for March 11. The police challenged a January 29 trial court order that upheld a magistrate’s decision to provide Kumar with the list of unrelied documents.

Delhi government standing counsel Sanjay Lao argued that the order was legally flawed, as the Supreme Court is already examining the issue in another case. However, Justice Mahajan noted that courts must follow existing legal precedents unless the apex court rules otherwise.

Kumar, accused of assaulting Maliwal on May 13, 2024, is currently on bail. The FIR against him includes charges of assault, criminal intimidation, and attempted culpable homicide.
