Delhi HC orders strict checks on no-entry permits
New Delhi
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ordered strict checks on online applications for no-entry permits, instructing authorities to verify all attached documents before giving approval. This move aims to curb the misuse of such permits by transporters, which adds to traffic congestion in the capital. These permits allow transport vehicles carrying essential goods to enter the city during restricted hours.
The court, led by Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, issued the order while hearing a PIL filed by Nishant Gulati. The petition, represented by Advocate Aditya Kadian, alleged the presence of a transport mafia in Delhi and accused officials of ignoring traffic laws.
It claimed that fake documents are often used to get permits for non-essential goods, and some transporters, in collusion with authorities, misuse the system to enter the city and unload restricted items. The court emphasized transparency and proper checks to stop such fraudulent practices.
