Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently held a meeting to discuss important issues like unauthorised colonies, slums, industrial zones, and the proposed Green Building Policy. The meeting included officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

CM Gupta highlighted the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and making it easier to do business in the city. The discussions covered redeveloping housing societies, upgrading industrial areas, and simplifying building rules to avoid delays. She stressed that construction processes should be clear, simple, and efficient.

One major decision was to revise the circle rates. A committee, led by the Divisional Commissioner, will study current market prices and suggest updated rates to fix inconsistencies across Delhi.

On unauthorised colonies, the Chief Minister asked all civic bodies to take active steps for their betterment. She also directed the Delhi Development Authority and Urban Development Department to prepare a detailed report on property ownership and registration issues in these areas.

The task force presented a 10-point plan including a single-window clearance system, uniform development norms, faster project approvals, lower charges for merging commercial plots, no need for revised layouts in MCD areas, a green building policy, property tax reforms, better use of Delhi Metro land, and reduced Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for hotels and commercial plots.

The report also recommended encouraging slum redevelopment through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with commercial activities to boost growth and sustainability.
