Gurugram
Gurugram Cyber Crime Police have arrested four individuals from Hisar, Haryana, for allegedly scamming people by selling fake iPhones on social media. The accused are Sunny, Aniket, Hitesh Jangra, and Mukesh alias Rohit. Police recovered six mobile phones, an ATM card, two bank passbooks, and ₹18,000 in cash from them.
The case began after a complaint on January 29, where the victim reported being cheated of ₹30,000 in a fake iPhone sale. Following the investigation led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Vikas Kaushik, the suspects were arrested. Aniket, Sunny, and Hitesh were arrested on April 3, while Mukesh was apprehended later. The trio was presented in court and remanded to police custody.
Interrogation revealed that Aniket and Sunny sold a bank account to Hitesh, who then resold it to Mukesh. Mukesh used it to conduct fraudulent transactions, posing as an iPhone seller. Police have urged caution when making online purchases.
