Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Thursday that the Congress party’s top leadership has fully supported adopting the Telangana model of social justice for OBCs at the national level. After meeting with Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Reddy shared that the Congress is committed to expanding this approach across India.

He said Telangana's caste-based SEEEPC survey—focused on social, educational, employment, political, and caste data—was the first of its kind in Independent India. Based on this data, the state passed two Bills to increase OBC reservation to 42% in education, employment, and local body polls. These Bills have been sent to the Centre for inclusion in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.

Revanth Reddy urged Congress leaders to pressure the BJP-led Centre during the Parliament session to approve the Bills. He added that this movement, backed by Rahul Gandhi and Kharge, aims to bring full social justice to OBCs across India.

Kharge echoed this on social media, stating that Social Justice 2.0 has started in Telangana and will empower SC, ST, OBC, and EWS communities. He pointed out the lack of representation from these groups in elite positions across the judiciary, universities, and corporates. Kharge emphasized that while the Centre has agreed to conduct a caste survey under pressure, it has not removed the 50% cap on reservations. He called Telangana’s scientific approach a national model and urged swift presidential assent for the OBC reservation Bill.
