On Saturday, the Congress party criticized the BJP for accusing the previous UPA government of being passive in responding to terror attacks. The Congress questioned whether it’s time for the government to play politics instead of promoting unity. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor condemned the BJP's social media post attacking the UPA’s handling of Pakistan, calling it a petty attempt to divide us politically. The BJP had posted on X, claiming that while the UPA engaged in peace talks after terror attacks, the Modi-led government has no tolerance for such talks and prefers military action. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera also criticized the post, asking if it was time for politics instead of national unity. Tharoor added that the government had learned the consequences of its earlier approach after involving Pakistan in the 2016 Pathankot attack investigation, eventually opting for military action. He urged the BJP to delete the post.
