Congress: Public hit by inflation, rising taxes
New Delhi
On Monday, Congress accused the Narendra Modi government of causing a double attack on people with soaring inflation and rising taxes. Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary for communications, shared a report highlighting increasing tax burdens on citizens. He said inflation and taxes have steadily grown over the past decade, making life harder for ordinary Indians.
Ramesh pointed out that costs for healthcare and education rise by 12-15% annually. School fees, books, uniforms, and bank service charges have all become more expensive. He also highlighted taxes on everyday items like milk, curd, flour, and even digital services like net banking and FASTag. Meanwhile, incomes remain stagnant.
He demanded that the Modi government explain how common people can survive under such heavy financial pressure. Congress continues to criticize the government for poor economic management, saying rising prices, low private investment, and stagnant wages are hurting the public.
