Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday accused the Congress party and senior leader P Chidambaram of using language similar to Pakistan's, following Chidambaram’s remarks on the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Chouhan questioned why the Opposition was avoiding a discussion on Operation Sindoor when the government was ready. He suggested the Congress was backing out due to fear of being exposed.

Chouhan said, The Opposition demanded a discussion on Operation Sindoor. Now that the government is ready, why are they stepping back? He criticised Chidambaram’s statement that the attackers might be homegrown terrorists, claiming it echoed Pakistan’s position and diverted attention from the real issue.

Chidambaram later clarified that his comments were taken out of context and blamed trolls for spreading misinformation by selectively editing his interview.

Other BJP leaders also slammed the Congress. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur accused the party of repeatedly questioning the Indian Army and siding with Pakistan. He said, India won’t give dossiers anymore, only strong replies, and accused the Congress of weakening national morale with anti-India narratives.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj called Chidambaram’s comments deeply shameful, especially from a former home minister. She reminded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called the Monsoon Session a tribute to the success of Operation Sindoor, and such statements dishonour the sacrifices of the armed forces.
