CM Naidu condemns sexist remarks; YSRCP retaliates
Amaravati
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu condemned offensive remarks against women made on a TV channel linked to former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He criticized a commentator who called Amaravati, the state capital, a capital of prostitutes, calling the statement disgraceful and deeply insulting to women’s dignity. Naidu emphasized that Telugu culture honors women and such vulgar comments are unacceptable. He also criticized Jagan for not condemning or apologizing for the remarks aired on his channel.
Naidu promised strict action against those responsible for hurting women’s sentiments in the name of politics. He affirmed that his government respects women and will fight such disrespectful behavior.
In response, the YSR Congress Party dismissed the allegations as a false campaign by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). YSRCP leader Pothina Mahesh said the remarks were by an individual journalist, not the party, and accused TDP of using social media to attack YSRCP and divert attention from their own failures. Mahesh also criticized TDP leaders for making offensive remarks without facing consequences.
