New Delhi
On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in a cleanliness drive at the Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place. She encouraged officials, public representatives, and residents to actively participate in the citywide initiative aimed at cleaning and beautifying the national capital. The campaign, launched by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Monday, is a 20-day mega drive focused on improving sanitation and public hygiene across the city.
Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the symbolic importance of the event, stressing that it was a call to action for all leaders and officials to take responsibility for making Delhi cleaner and more beautiful. A clean Delhi is the right of its citizens, she remarked, praising the efforts of the NDMC in promoting cleanliness. Gupta urged everyone, including officials, public representatives, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), to actively support the campaign. She also took a moment to offer prayers at the Hanuman Mandir.
This cleanliness drive follows a crucial meeting held by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena at Raj Niwas, which included senior administrative and police officials. The meeting set the foundation for enhanced coordination between various departments during the next three weeks of the campaign.
The NDMC has planned comprehensive cleaning, maintenance, and beautification work throughout its jurisdiction. All departments will be mobilized to ensure the success of this initiative. The goal is to create a cleaner, more visually appealing environment in Delhi, benefiting both residents and visitors. Through this collective effort, the city aims to enhance public spaces and set an example for cleanliness and civic responsibility.
