The central government has sanctioned ₹1,066.80 crore in flood and landslide relief for six states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the decision on Thursday, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to support disaster-affected states.
The aid package covers Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand. “The Modi government stands resolutely with states in all circumstances,” Shah posted on X. “The approved ₹1,066.80 crore under the SDRF is part of our continued assistance for flood and landslide relief efforts.”
Shah also stated that more than ₹8,000 crore has been released from SDRF and NDRF funds to 19 states this year. He highlighted the government’s logistical support, including the deployment of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army, and Air Force in affected areas.
The relief efforts coincide with ongoing monsoon destruction across several states. Under Operation Jal Rahat-2, the Indian Army has intensified humanitarian missions in the Northeast. So far, 40 relief columns have rescued 3,820 people, distributed over 15,000 water bottles, 1,361 food packets, and provided medical care to more than 2,000 individuals.
In Himachal Pradesh, where damages have exceeded ₹740 crore since June 20, Army units have been deployed in Mandi district. Relief supplies have reached isolated villages like Degi, Rushad, and Chapad. Despite receding waters in some regions, forces remain on high alert in Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland, where rivers such as Dhansiri and Nambol breached danger levels earlier this week.
