BJP slams Congress over US parade rumour

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an apology from the Congress for allegedly spreading false information about Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir being invited to a US military parade hosted by former President Donald Trump. The White House has firmly denied the claim, stating, “No foreign military leaders were invited.”

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticised the Congress for “falling into Pakistan’s trap” and misleading the public. He stated that for the past few days, Congress leaders repeatedly claimed that Asim Munir was set to attend a US parade, which has now been proven false by the White House.

Dubey used the opportunity to launch a broader attack on the Congress party’s foreign policy record. He took aim at Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s criticism of India’s abstention from a UN vote on Gaza, calling it “shameful.” He further highlighted Congress’s historical dealings with Israel, pointing out that while the party publicly supported Palestine, it maintained covert ties with Israel since Nehru’s time.

Referring to past incidents, Dubey claimed that the Congress-led UPA government weakened India’s stance on terrorism following the 26/11 attacks due to international pressure.

The controversy erupted during Donald Trump’s massive military parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army. The event saw tanks, troops, and aircraft passing through Washington, drawing an estimated crowd of over 250,000 people, though this figure remains unverified.

While Trump’s supporters praised the parade, protests under the banner “No Kings” broke out across major cities, with clashes and violence reported in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.
