BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi met H D Kumara Swamy
New Delhi
The factional conflict within the BJP in Karnataka shows no signs of subsiding. Despite efforts by the party's high command to address the issue, the internal discord persists. While the surface may appear calm, statements and actions by key leaders continue to fuel tensions. The ongoing rivalry between MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and state BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra has deepened divisions within the party. As a result, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has chosen to distance himself from the controversy.
During a recent meeting in Delhi, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was approached by MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi and his team, who raised concerns about the internal disagreements in the state BJP. They requested Kumaraswamy to mediate with the party high command regarding the issue. However, Kumaraswamy reportedly declined to intervene in the factional dispute, emphasizing his reluctance to involve himself in the matter.
"I’ll offer suggestions to the party president, Vijayendra, or discuss strategies for fighting against the government, but internal conflicts are not my concern," Kumaraswamy clarified. His stance indicates a clear decision to avoid involvement in the BJP's internal strife.
Currently, the BJP’s factional infighting resembles a smoldering fire. B.Y. Vijayendra, dismissing his detractors with a "don’t care" attitude, has focused on strengthening the party's organizational structure. On Tuesday, Vijayendra held a meeting at a private hotel in Bengaluru, attempting to rally support from leaders who had faced defeat in the previous elections. During the gathering, leaders backing Vijayendra sharply criticized Yatnal and expressed solidarity with Vijayendra's leadership.
