Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid foundation stones for development works worth ₹570 crore during his visit to Muzaffarpur on Thursday. The move comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections and focuses on improving infrastructure and public safety.
The key projects include a rail overbridge near Madipur Power House, costing ₹167 crore, aimed at easing traffic and improving connectivity. CM Kumar said the overbridge will help solve long-standing congestion issues and benefit daily commuters.
Another major project is a ₹24 crore RCC bridge in the Gaighat area of Madhurpatti. This location recently witnessed a tragic boat accident that took several lives. The new bridge will offer a safer alternative, replacing the current dependence on boats for crossing.
Apart from these, five additional schemes were inaugurated, aimed at boosting civic amenities across Muzaffarpur. These projects are expected to improve daily life and infrastructure in the region.
Locals have praised the RCC bridge project in particular, saying it addresses an urgent and life-threatening problem. The state government promised speedy implementation and assured residents that all projects would be completed on time.
“Our goal is better roads, safer travel, and improved living conditions for all,” CM Kumar said while addressing the gathering.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Wanavar block in Jehanabad district, where he reviewed development work and instructed officials to speed up ongoing projects.
With these efforts, the Bihar government aims to showcase progress and development, highlighting its focus on safety and better infrastructure ahead of the elections.
