Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has requested the Public Works Department (PWD) to let her retain the AB-17 Mathura Road bungalow, which she currently occupies, in her new role as Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly. Alternatively, she has sought the allotment of a bungalow at Ansari Road, earlier used by AAP leader Jasmine Shah.

PWD officials said that although Atishi continues to live at the Mathura Road residence, her request to retain it was denied as it falls under the central government’s accommodation pool. In March, she wrote to the PWD seeking formal allotment, but no decision has been made yet. Sources from AAP confirmed that she has now requested the Ansari Road bungalow.

The Mathura Road residence has a history of being occupied by prominent leaders, including former CM Sheila Dikshit and ex-deputy CM Manish Sisodia. Atishi was allotted the bungalow after Sisodia's arrest in the excise policy case.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is still awaiting an official residence, even after over a month in office. PWD officials said they are searching for a suitable bungalow near the Secretariat. Until then, she continues to live at her personal residence.

Gupta has declined to occupy the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow, formerly used by Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP had dubbed the bungalow Sheesh Mahal due to alleged irregularities and its luxurious interiors. PWD officials said accommodations for other ministers and Assembly leaders have already been allocated.
