AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has declared an aggressive crackdown on drug dealers in Punjab, pledging to free the state from the drug menace. In a strong statement, Kejriwal warned that those involved in drug trafficking “will not be spared.”

The Punjab Police, in coordination with the administration, has intensified its anti-drug operations, demolishing illegal properties linked to suspected drug peddlers. Recently, two unlawful properties were demolished in Khanpur village, Phillaur Tehsil of Jalandhar district. DSP Sarwan Singh confirmed that a notorious drug smuggler, Jasvir Sheera, had built a house using illicit earnings, which has now been razed. Another property belonging to a female drug peddler was also demolished as part of the operation.

The Punjab government is taking a multi-pronged approach, focusing not only on law enforcement but also on rehabilitation and de-addiction. Authorities have been directed to ensure the availability of rehab centers, medicines like Buprenorphine, testing kits, and necessary staff. A senior IAS officer has been assigned to oversee the preparedness of these facilities. This action follows similar demolitions, including one on February 24 linked to drug smuggler Sonu from Talwandi village. With multiple FIRs against him, Sonu was a known figure in the drug trade.

The AAP government has vowed to dismantle such networks, ensuring a safer Punjab for future generations. The government’s stringent measures aim to dismantle the financial backbone of the drug trade, sending a strong message that illegal wealth accumulation will not be tolerated.
