Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday praised the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police for their joint operation against drug trafficking in Delhi-NCR, resulting in the seizure of drugs worth ₹27.4 crore.

Taking to X, Shah stated that the crackdown aligns with the government's zero-tolerance policy on drugs. The operation led to the recovery of methamphetamine, MDMA, and cocaine, along with the arrest of five individuals. He commended the NCB and Delhi Police for their efforts and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to fighting the drug trade.

The seizure occurred in Chhatarpur, where officials intercepted a vehicle carrying 5.10 kg of crystal meth worth ₹10.2 crore, arresting four Nigerian nationals. A follow-up raid in Tilak Nagar uncovered 1.15 kg of meth, 4.14 kg of Afghan heroin, and 5.77 kg of MDMA valued at ₹16.4 crore. Further searches in Greater Noida led to the recovery of Afghan heroin and cocaine.

Investigations revealed that African nationals used student visas as a cover for drug trafficking. Officials suspect a larger syndicate facilitating their entry into India, using them as conduits to supply drugs, particularly in Delhi and Punjab. The crackdown marks a significant step in dismantling international drug networks operating in the country.
