Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday, joined by BJP National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, according to sources. The meeting followed Speaker Birla’s earlier conversation with Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh inside Parliament.

The Monsoon Session has faced continuous disruptions, with opposition MPs demanding debates on several pressing matters. Among the key issues raised are the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, the controversial Operation Sindoor, and former US President Donald Trump’s recent claims regarding India-Pakistan peace talks.

In a separate development, around 145 Lok Sabha MPs from multiple political parties—including the Congress, TDP, JD(U), JD(S), and others—submitted a formal memorandum to Speaker Birla. They are seeking the removal of High Court Judge Yashwant Varma, who has been linked to a controversy involving cash recovery.

The MPs have filed an impeachment motion under Articles 124, 217, and 218 of the Indian Constitution. The motion, a rare step in Parliament, alleges misconduct by the judge and calls for an investigation.

Notable signatories to the petition include Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Ravi Shankar Prasad, NCP’s Supriya Sule, and KC Venugopal. Their move has added further tension to an already chaotic session.

The Speaker is expected to review the memorandum and decide on the next steps in accordance with constitutional procedures. The situation continues to draw attention amid growing demands for accountability and parliamentary order.
