Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav emphasized on Wednesday that the I.N.D.I.A. alliance remains united, with his party supporting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over Congress in Delhi. He explained that AAP is stronger in Delhi, and the primary objective of the opposition bloc is to defeat the BJP.

Yadav, who was in Haridwar to immerse the ashes of his uncle Rajpal Yadav in the Ganga, highlighted the importance of empowering regional parties in areas where they hold strength. When the alliance was formed, Nitish Kumar had emphasized that we should support regional parties wherever they are strong enough to challenge the BJP, he said.

The SP chief urged unity in the fight against the BJP and advocated for backing the stronger party in each region. In Delhi, Yadav stated that AAP is better positioned to take on the BJP, making it the natural choice for support.

When asked about the Union Home Ministry granting sanction to prosecute AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case, Yadav criticized the BJP’s authoritarian style of governance. They rule with a dictatorial approach wherever they are in power, he remarked.

He also mentioned that he would visit the Maha Kumbh congregation in Prayagraj whenever Mother Ganga calls him, affirming the spiritual connection he shares with the Ganga, from Haridwar to Gangasagar.
