Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav targeted the government in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, criticizing the mismanagement at the Maha Kumbh and questioning the lack of clarity about the death toll from the stampede. He pointed out that despite the government’s emphasis on digitization, there were no final numbers available regarding the casualties.

The Kannauj MP also criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for what he called double blunders by the double engine government. He highlighted that, for the first time, devotees were caught in a 300-km traffic jam during the Kumbh, with borders sealed and basic traffic management failing. He asked, What’s the point of reaching the moon when we can’t manage issues here on Earth?

Yadav also called out the government’s claims about drones and digitization, questioning why they were unable to provide figures for the deaths or missing persons from the event.

As the Maha Kumbh continues in Prayagraj, where over 44 crore devotees have participated, the stampede on Mauni Amavasya killed at least 30 people and injured 60 others. Yadav also critiqued the Union Budget, accusing it of favoring the wealthy and ignoring the common man. He further questioned the deportation of illegal immigrants from the US, urging Modi to bring back women and children with dignity.
