The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Wednesday that Ajaneesh Kumar, who is currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Estonia, has been appointed as the new Ambassador to Argentina. He is expected to take up the role soon.

Ajaneesh Kumar, a 1996 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, has had a distinguished career spanning over 28 years. He has worked in various important roles both in India and abroad. His assignments include serving in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Berne, and Accra, as well as at headquarters in the Technical Cooperation, Europe West, and United Nations Divisions.

In addition, Kumar has held significant positions such as Deputy High Commissioner in Ghana and India’s High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam from 2018 to 2022. He became India’s Ambassador to Estonia in March 2022.

India and Argentina share a strong relationship across multiple sectors, which has grown significantly over time. Diplomatic ties between the two nations were upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in 2019. In 2024, they marked 75 years of diplomatic relations.

Ajaneesh Kumar’s appointment underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties with Argentina, and his extensive experience is expected to further enhance these relations.
