Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay has criticized the DMK for misleading the people of Tamil Nadu regarding the scrapping of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). On social media, Vijay pointed out that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has now acknowledged that only the Union Government has the power to abolish NEET.

This revelation, Vijay argued, highlights the deceit by the DMK during the 2021 Assembly elections, where they promised to remove NEET if they came to power. Expressing his frustration, Vijay asked, How long will they deceive us in our own country? He accused the DMK of making false promises to secure votes, only to fail in delivering once they were in power.

Vijay also reminded the public that NEET was a central issue in the 2021 campaign, with the DMK claiming they would abolish it. He questioned the DMK’s betrayal of the people who trusted them, saying, Isn't this a betrayal to people who voted based on their promises?

In a speech on Friday, CM Stalin clarified that NEET would have been scrapped if the INDIA alliance had formed the government, but only the Union Government could end it. He also reminded the Assembly that NEET was not implemented during the tenures of Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa, but was introduced under AIADMK’s Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Vijay also held a massive rally in Vikkaravandi, attracting over 300,000 people. There, he criticized both the BJP and DMK, accusing the DMK of using the Dravidian identity for personal gain and the BJP of divisive politics.
