AAP celebrates twin bypoll wins nationwide
New Delhi
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday declared that voters have decisively rejected both the BJP and Congress in the latest round of Assembly bypolls, highlighting a shift in public sentiment toward AAP.
In Gujarat, AAP’s Gopal Italia secured a major win from the Visavadar constituency, while the BJP’s Rajendra Chavda retained the Kadi seat. Simultaneously in Punjab, AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora emerged as the frontrunner in Ludhiana West, leading by over 7,000 votes against Congress’s Bharat Bhushan Ashu, according to early trends.
Celebrations erupted at AAP headquarters in Delhi with party workers distributing laddoos and chanting slogans in support of the leadership. Kejriwal, expressing gratitude to voters in both states, said the results show increasing public faith in AAP’s governance model.
“The people of Gujarat are now fed up with BJP and are seeing hope in Aam Aadmi Party,” Kejriwal posted on X. “In both Gujarat and Punjab, BJP and Congress came together with one aim—defeat AAP. But people rejected them both.” He also claimed that the victory margins this time were nearly double compared to previous elections, indicating growing momentum for the party.
Kejriwal praised the work done by his government in Punjab and said these results validate public satisfaction. He reiterated AAP’s position as a viable national alternative to the traditional parties, asserting that the twin victories are a sign of political change sweeping across the country.
