Aaditya Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), accused the Maharashtra government of ending its flagship Ladki Bahin scheme, claiming that lakhs of women are being removed from the beneficiary list. Speaking at a party event, Thackeray criticized the ruling Mahayuti coalition, led by Devendra Fadnavis, calling it demonic and alleging the government’s power was sustained by the Election Commission’s blessings.
His comments came after Deputy CM Ajit Pawar assured that the scheme’s budget was secure and it wouldn’t be scrapped. The scheme, which offers Rs 1,500 per month to women, played a significant role in the Mahayuti’s victory in last year’s state elections. However, Thackeray questioned whether the promised Rs 2,100 would be provided or if the amount would be reduced.
He also claimed that many women were being excluded from the scheme, with funds being taken back from accounts. Thackeray further criticized the government for not fulfilling its poll promises, including providing Rs 3,000 per month as the MVA had promised.
Thackeray also accused Fadnavis of failing to introduce new initiatives for youth and claimed that farmers had been misled as their loans and electricity bills would not be waived. He dismissed the idea of expecting justice from Fadnavis, alleging that anyone seeking justice would face serious legal consequences.
